WHAT IS HACKVENTURE?

Hackventure is a quirky surreal RPG about a normal boy and multiple worlds fusing into each others creating chaos. To stop this chaos, Mike and the allies he'll befriend along his journey will face powerful enemies, explore different realities and live horrifying nightmares. 

However, it seems like fate has different plans for Mike, and is preventing him from fulfilling his mission.

He needs your help.

Why am I making this?

Hackventure is a Mother inspired game made in Rpg Maker VX Ace by and Italian guy (me), who did all the work and is working on it from around 2020.

I love the videogame medium, I think it's the most powerful out there. My main goal is to show you how fiction and reality are closer than you think, and ultimately create, more than just a game, an experience  for whoever will ever decide to open this software.

FEATURES and INFO

Hi! Uhm, I think i have to explain you what you can find in Hackventure. I'll try my best to summarize the main points, but it's up to you to find out the rest!

Hackventure contains:

• Original 16 Bit pixel art!
• A layered story, with humor (there's a lot of it!), adventure, mistery and unnerving realities.
• A lot of nonsense/absurd humor!
• Did I mention the humor?
• Possibility to interact (and find secret items or enemies) with literally (almost) everything you see on screen!
• Recruit different characters with different stories and build a team based on your needs.
• A stimulating and balanced battle system, with visible enemies on map and a lot of bosses.
• WHAT?! You're tired of classic RPG Maker combat? You want to know other mechanics?
• BATTLE MECHANICS such as: The Team Bar, special character-unique skills,  the Sprint! mechanic!
• WHAAT?! You want to know what they do? How the hell can I know! I'm just a text in a web page! You need to play the game to find out!!
• Last but not least...
• You can save wherever you like! Remember, the World will always be by your side.

CAST

In Hackventure you control Mike, but you'll find a lot of characters that will follow though your journey!

You can see the main cast up here, but I can't say much about them (You'll need to find out!)

Every time you'll befriend a new character, a Sigil will be created, and will symbolize your bond.

FAQ

What are Hackventure's inspirations?

Hackventure is inspired mainly by the Mother/Earthbound series. Other inspirations are Undertale, Pokémon, Omori, Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass, and other indie RPGs.

How much will Hackventure cost?

Some of you (very few) will remember how Hackventure was supposed to be a free game, since a lot of assets weren't original. 

This, however, has changed now, and I'm planning to sell the game once it's finished. The price is still variable, but it won't cost much!

How long will it take to complete Hackventure?

The main story takes about 15/20 hours to complete. There are a few post game activities, quests and secrets to find; counting these I don't think it will last more than 30 hours anyway.

Is Hackventure hard?

I'm trying my best to balance the difficulty and make it avaiable to everyone, but for sure it can sometimes be tough. Normal battles with enemies are not hard if you learn when to attack and when to heal. Boss battles are usually harder, but nothing is impossible! 

Grinding is minimal, if that's what you're asking for. Enemies have clear indicators to help you know when it's ok to avoid battles.

Is Hackventure good?

I hope so. 

When will Hackventure come out?

I've done a lot, but there remains a lot to do. Thinking of a release date is hard, and every time i tried to respect the deadlines I announced, I failed.

Let's just say it'll be out when it's ready. Don't worry, communications and dev logs will be frequent.

Will Hackventure come out?

It already came out in another dimension. You just have to wait for it in this one. Or you can travel to that dimension and play it right now.

Is Hackventure real?

Hackventure is a work of fiction. But, sometimes, reality and fiction are not so different.

DEMO

The Hackventure DEMO contains the the first chapter and half of the second one. The purpose of the DEMO is to introduce the world, characters and main mechanics, so it doesn't go too hard plot wise. Most of the darker temes will be addressed in the full game.

DEMO version: 3.1.1
The best version of the demo! The game experience of this version is the closest to the current state of development; everything you'll see (map design, writing, quality of life...) is very close (i hope!) to what you'll see in the full game (within the limits i explained in the previous paragraph).
